Top of the World (ish)

One word. Wow.


The Northern Scottish coastline (as I’ve now been informed North Coast 500) is like nothing I’ve experienced before. Pushing between the ocean and the mountains is a small one car wide road which slowly snakes its way thru tiny towns, beaches and mountain passes to ring the outer edge of mainland Scotland, all the while glimpsing views of the Orkney Islands to the north of Scotland.

This was one of the best days (of admittedly slow riding) I’ve ever had; the roads are labeled 60mph however most of the day is spend at 20-30 as the roads are so narrow, twisty and blind that even on a sports bike you’d struggle to push much harder.

Words cannot describe how much fun this was (and how much terror when you see a campervan bearing down on you on a single lane road) however the photos absolutely didn’t do it justice and hopefully the video will!


I saw a sign advertising a seafood restaurant / café (read: beach) and decided the 3 mile detour was entire worth it. After almost being hit by a garbage truck I stumbled upon this gem! Smoked salmon and a scone later I was back on the road!

I ended up in a little town called Ullapool; and old fishing village which was small but very nice; the fishing industry all but left here due to the fishing restrictions and larger catches to be caught elsewhere leaving a lovely, well infrastuctured but largely touristy seaside town.

I naturally did the only acceptable thing and had fish and chips! Oh and THE DRONE WORKS!

Following day I managed another day of amazing riding; this time cutting inland on A roads leading to the Isle of Skye. More of the same incredible coastal and mountain riding!
