The Swiss Passes (pt2)

Waking up nice and early I was excited for my second day in the Alps and the weather (as always) was beautiful!

And the higher I climbed the more beautiful the scenery! First Pass was the most northern, Susten Pass.

Arriving at the top was like a snow rimmed, outdoor, high end car showroom. This loop is one of the most popular in the area and everyone in a car club seems to go through here - Astons!

But I couldn't sit around all day, it was time to descend!

But here seemed like such a good place for the drone! ​

The scale of everything here is incredible - mountains that are far far away look so close because they're so large!

But I cant spend the whole time talking about just one pass and half an hour of riding, so exiting the bottom of the mountain it was time to find the next one!

Next up Grimsel Pass! So up I climbed again!

And at the top, another showroom! The climb up and down the passes used to be very dangerous (because racing up roads with no barriers isn't...) and so hospices were established at the top to care for those passing through. ​

And a little lake too!

And down I went! I cant work out if I like the uphill sections more where the bike isn't desperately trying to fall over the edge, or the downhill where I actually get to see the view but have to be super careful not to brake too late!

The other side of the mountain marks the next piece of road; Furka Pass which featured in Bond! Sadly...less Astons on this stretch.

And a quick stop for a photo! Its a confusing mix of hot and cold up here; the air is very cold when moving however the sun is very hot when stopped. I ended up a bit sunburned as a result of all the photo and coffee stops!

The sheer scale of everything is stunning here!

And at the top, amazing. I have to leave to make my accommodation but its incredibly beautiful here. Plus...SNOW

My stop tonight is in the Alpine town of Grindelwald; a once sleepy village which has become a tourist hotspot due to its location - whats it near...sadly that's for tomorrow!
