  Day 4 & 5 – Sennen, St Ives, Newquay, Tintagel We woke up in Land’s End to a much nicer day!  After a quick breakfast the crowds started to roll in and we quickly escaped – heading northwards and now following the coast. Just 10 minutes away is a fantastic beach; largely hidden and despite some cloud cover we went for an explore!  And a bit of an explore on the rocks  We continued to jump between the coastline and the hills until we reached our lunch stop – St Ives and it was MUCH busier! After crawling through town (thanks GPS) we managed to find parking way up on the hill top and wandered into town in search of food!   The G7 had just taken place at St Ives, and it’s historically been a very popular English beach holiday location so we counted ourselves lucky to be able to get a Cornish Pasty for lunch and a free bit of sidewalk to eat it in! Us hoping we’d worn suncream!   We continued on – stretching later into the afternoon we decided to stop at another beach called Newquay for dinner – we found a lovely little Italian restaurant with outdoor tables free (Covid..yay!) and tucked in to an amazing pizza and sides – which I completely forgot to take any photos of!  We then set off with the sun getting lower to Tintagel, our stop for the night – but before heading to our stop for the night we took a small detour to a scenic viewpoint outside of town and were treated to a full rainbow!   We stayed in a small hotel in town – the Tintagel Arms – one of the issues we’d had when planning this trip many months earlier was that due to Covid travel restrictions lots of people who would normally holiday in Europe were looking to stay local, and had been very organised with their bookings! Next morning we were off to visit Tintagel Castle – home of the Camelot / King Arthur / Merlin legends…but first…have to stay Covid Safe…  There isn’t actually a Castle anymore at Tintagel – it fell down many years ago however Merlin’s cave is still accessible at low tide. Due to Covid everything had to be booked in advance (which I’d forgotten to do) so we had to be content with walking around the outside. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/tintagel-castle/  We continued to explore around the headland, myself having a great time wearing the heavy motorcycle gear I’d packed but not actually managed to use!   We then raced off to our stop for the night – Bude; but more on that tomorrow!
