PLANES!!!

​Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot and not just any pilot; as a kid I watched a movie called Biggles (something about time travelling) and decided THAT was the sort of pilot I wanted to be. WW1 & WW2 planes and to they eye rolling knowledge of anyone I've mentioned it to...I'd like to buy one eventually!

So today I visited the Duxford Imperial War Museum; a massive collection of planes (and tanks) split between the old aircraft hangers of the Duxford Airfield and over the next 6 hours climbed in, on, around more old machinery than I ever thought I'd see. Below is a very very select cut of the hundreds of photos I took.

Besides Fast & Furious 7 & obviously Star Wars 7 this is a throwback to another teary movie!

Gold Dragunov  was not available in the gift shop...this one was brought back from Iraq.

​They also rebuild planes here; one workshop is full of half built planes including a finished Spitfire from this show (it flies!)

As room for souvenirs is currently very limited I resolved to buy postcards, a guidebook and definitely not a flight cap or leather jacket. Sadly. This jackets is almost ONE THOUSAND POUNDS (which had a small bearing on my not buying it too admittedly)

Safe to say I managed to spend FAR longer than I expected here and completely missed making it to Manchester for Dinner (sorry Rae!) and had to stop in the dark & rain in Nottingham (home to the Sheriff Of Nottingham & Robin Hood)
