Lamborghinis, Gondolas and wet feet!

Fresh off realising how nice some of the Ferraris are and how much I cannot afford one it was time to ram that message home with a trip to the Lamborghini museum.


Whilst Ferrari has been around since the ‘30s, Lamborghini is much newer; only started in the ‘60s with their collection ranging from then to now.

With their merger with the Audi group the R&D has increased substantially – leading to some interesting concept cars, Lambo 4x4 anyone?

Unfortunately not my taste, it’s not ridiculous enough! You could easily put a Mercedes badge on it and in silver it might even be classy!
This to me is where Lamborghini shines, a one off concept by the Audi head designer; built to be a fighter jet in a car. It can only seat one, to enter you have to remove the canopy and comes with a little HUD.

Also…not for sale…


Climbing back on the bike it was time to head for my last stop in Italy; Venice! Unfortunately the weather had caught up to me however at least I had my umbrella!

Not that helpful on the bike however to be fair!

But I arrived safely, and whilst jumping in puddles, I discovered my motorbike boots had become…less waterproof…than they had been earlier.

The weather did however finally come good and with the sun came the crowds!

Whilst a beautiful city the main areas are dirty and crowded; there were some nice secluded bits however.

But the magic of the city seems ruined by the people, be they tourists were everywhere, the street sales people were desperately pushing to sell their souveniers. Unfortunately I hit my limit of Venice when a guy helped his daughter to pee under this bridge. The white stickers on the steps indicate "WC" (toilets) are over the other side!

I assume if you spend your time in the luxury hotels and bars, spend some serious coin on a gondola ride and drop dollars at restaurants Venice can be a beautiful experience, to me though the actual city itself was a bit of a let down. Bruges was far nicer, although the pictures look good!

One of the things I’ve struggled in some countries with is the ability to get my clothes clean and dry – whilst some countries have prevalent Laundromats a lot of the country towns I’ve been staying in don’t; and with the cold weather a hand washed pair of…socks…takes 3 nights to dry!


Thankfully I found a Laundromat on the mainland and settled in for some Top Gear!

Next morning I was off and running again, but shoes still wet I was in need of new ones, and stumbled on this place!

They did however cater to a fairly niche market; half price several years old leather suits.
Half off did seem like a bargain but at a starting price of ~$2k AUD it was a tough sell when I really was after boots!

One town over however was an auto part store (like Autobarn or Repco) however motorcycling is such a big business here that they had isles and isles of jackets, helmets, boots, anything you wanted. I picked up these waterproof boots for just on $300AUD.

But I couldn’t sit around; I was due to get north into Austria and things looked to be about to get very wet!

Rolling up the Alps out of Italy a THICK cloud hit me! Or more likely I just got high enough to be inside the storm cloud.

But thankfully I passed above it, and dropped out the other side of the tunnel into amazing weather!

For a little bit…then the clouds caught up and it was time to call it a night!

Missing my stop by a fair distance I grabbed the cheapest accommodation nearby at a little B&B in Rangersdorf; one of the tiny towns dotting the top of the Alps.

Arriving after dinner time the hosts threw together a few things and I settled in to writing!
