First Day in the Cote d'Azur

We'd finally made it to the South of France and stayed the night in a holiday park, a long way up a very narrow road!

Unfortunately it was school holidays and whilst being very secluded - it was also very full of families with kids - and social distancing was almost non-existent! We had a quick dip in the water, avoided the pool and jumped in the car ready for a short trip to our next stop. 

We drove via Marseille, unfortunately none of the photos turned out very well but the port was packed with cruise liners - easily 10+ sitting empty!

We continued up the coastline into a national park "Calanques" which whilst only being a short drive - took up most of our morning with ongoing stops for photos.

Leaving Marseille:

The national park was utterly stunning, with stops every 500m and incredible views!

And no fences!

After taking 2 hours or so in the national park we stopped at the next town we found named La Ciotat for a little lunch! Even at a harbourside restaurant the prices were fairly reasonable; under 10€ for a salad, just over for a pizza!

We continued along the coast to a little beachside town called La Seyne-sur-Mer (The Seyne on Sea), as part of the trip planning we'd been looking for the nicest hotels which whilst being amazing were fairly cheap based on their out of the way or difficult to reach locations. 

The Grand Hotel Sablettes Plage did not disappoint! Right on the beachside with a little pool, garden and balcony it was everything we'd been hoping for!

We had a little swim, then picnic dinner and watched the sunset!
