  Well its been a long break between updates but after a LONG lockdown we’re finally able to do some travelling again – Covid has meant our 2021 trips will be limited to the UK. Over the next 5 weeks were going to travel along the South Coast of the UK, thru Devon and Cornwall – then up to the Cotswolds & Malvern Hills – then a quick break to wash clothes, water the plants and and repack at home before heading to Scotland to do the NC500 finishing in the Lake District. Day 1 – Sidmouth After a slightly disorganise exit from Greenwich we headed south west out of London and onto the infamous London Ring Road – the M25….and immediately hit traffic. With lunch booked with Lou’s family we decided I would ride on ahead, leaving Lou in traffic in the car, and arrive on time to keep the booking! A solid hour of splitting between traffic I made it on time, and 15 minutes later Lou caught up and we had lunch at a lovely little pub called Fisherman’s Rest in Lymington (2 hours…or so…out of London).  We then continued on for 2 hours in separate vehicles to our stop for the night – Sidmouth! Deciding that no beers could be had until 10,000 steps had been done we went for an explore of the local area. Sunset above Sidmouth  When we went upstairs to check into our room we thought we’d made a huge mistake! The placement of the pillars made the room look like it was tiny, but had an enormous mirror for a wall – luckily it was actually a big room with a lot of support columns!  Apparently people were a lot shorter when this building was built!  Over this (Sth UK) and the next (Scotland) holidays we’d tried to save money on some nights in order to have one ‘splurge’ hotel – tonight ‘Dukes Inn’ was midrange in terms of cost but the food and drinks downstairs at the bar were fantastic! https://dukessidmouth.co.uk/ £145 for the night incl breakfast + £8 for parking nearby…for the car…the motorcycle was free!
